The best tasting and easy to make chocolate gravy is made is the microwave. I never knew about chocolate gravy until I married Marty. His mom, we call her Grandmom, makes the best. I’m sharing her recipe here because I think everyone should have homemade biscuits with chocolate gravy occasionally. It’s a regular at our house when the grandkids are here. They love it!
Easy Microwave Chocolate Gravy
- 1 C sugar
- 2 heaping Tbsp self-rising flour
- 1 heaping Tbsp cocoa
- 2 C milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp margarine
Mix the dry ingredients well in a microwave safe container. I use my large Pyrex measuring cup with a handle. It makes it easier.
Add milk slowly, stirring as your pour. Microwave 1 minute at a time, stirring with a whisk after each minute.
After 5-6 minutes (depending on microwave temp) the gravy will begin to thicken.
Keep cooking 1 minute at a time until it gets to the consistency you like.
Once there, remove and add the vanilla and margarine.
Stir well and serve over hot biscuits. Yummy!
*This will keep well in the refrigerator for several days.
Just pop it in the microwave and heat it back up.
